What is EBS? (EBS 3, 4, 4+)

EBS (Electronic Braking System)** processes brake pedal operation into electronic signals and delivers optimized braking power to each wheel.
By combining pneumatic braking with electronic control units, sensors, and actuators, it operates faster and more precisely than mechanical/pneumatic braking systems.

EBS components

Components Role
EBS ECU (brake control unit) Control and monitor the entire brake system
Brake Pedal Sensor (Foot Brake Module) Converts the driver's braking request into an electrical signal
Wheel speed sensor (ABS sensor) Measure the rotation speed of each wheel
Pressure regulating valve (Modulator) Control braking power by adjusting air pressure in real time
Air tank, redundancy valve Pneumatic auxiliary system maintenance
CAN communication line Real-time data exchange with other controllers (ESP, TCS, CPC, etc.)
Front/rear control unit (with Trailer EBS) The trailer's braking power can also be adjusted with EBS.

Key features

Function Explanation
Electronic brake force distribution Automatic braking pressure adjustment per axle and per wheel (pedestrian/cargo protection)
ABS/ASR integrated control Prevents wheel locking and slipping
Brake Assist / Automatic Emergency Braking (AEBS) Automatic braking when driver reaction is delayed
Hill Hold Prevents backing up when stopping on a slope
Trailer EBS integration Braking synchronization between tractor and trailer

Symptoms of EBS failure

Symptoms Possible causes
Possible causes ECU error, sensor malfunction
braking delay/braking force imbalance Modulator problem, wheel speed sensor failure
Air pressure abnormality warning Air tank/redundancy circuit failure
Trailer brake synchronization failure Trailer EBS communication error
Limp mode CPC limit triggered in case of serious braking-related errors
