What is EMS?

EMS stands for Engine Management System, which refers to the engine control system.

Main Functions

  • Fuel Injection Control
  • Optimizes fuel injection quantity and timing to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
  • Works in conjunction with the common rail system.
  • Air Management
  • Controls turbocharger, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), and intercooler to maintain proper airflow.
  • Emission Control
  • Integrates with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) to meet Euro 6 and other regulations.
  • Engine Protection
  • Activates engine limitation or warning functions in case of overheating, overload, or malfunction.
  • OBD (On-Board Diagnostics)
  • Generates Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) and provides service data.
  • Integrates with diagnostic tools (e.g., Volvo Tech Tool).
