CUMMINS ECU

The CUMMINS ECU is the electronic control unit that manages all core operations of Cummins diesel engines.

The ECU acts as the "brain" of the vehicle and performs the following functions

  • Fuel injection control (Timing & Quantity)
  • Intake and exhaust control (EGR, Turbo Boost, etc.)
  • Exhaust aftertreatment control (DPF, SCR, etc.)
  • Real-time sensor data monitoring and fault diagnostics
  • Engine protection (Overheating, overload prevention, etc.)

Key Functions of Cummins ECU

  • Fuel Injection Control High-pressure fuel injection via common rail
ECU controls injection quantity/timing depending on driving conditions

  • Emission Control EGR: Exhaust gas recirculation to reduce NOx
SCR: Injects AdBlue (urea) to reduce NOx
DPF: Diesel particulate filter regeneration control

  • Engine Protection & Control Power derating in case of overheating, overspeed, low oil pressure, etc.
Warm-up strategy applied during cold start

  • Fault Diagnostics & Logging Records Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)
Check and reset possible with diagnostic tools such as Jaltest, Cummins InSite
